Late summer

We can tell that summer is coming to an end! The corn is ripening, the squirrels are storing up food for the winter, and although we still have some hot, humid days, we have had some beautiful days mixed in. Usually the mornings are cool and crisp, and we have even had some rain!

Storm clouds building up. They were so pretty!
 Can you see the rain in the distance?

This squirrel is just finishing up the corn cob that my younger siblings
wedged into a hole in the tree. Homemade squirrel feeder. ;-)

O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth!
    You have set your glory above the heavens.

God's handiwork

Ever since I took this picture, it has never failed to make me smile! Cute little critter...

                                                       In His hand is the life of every creature
    and the breath of all mankind.
Job 12:10

Another beautiful sunset!

I love Nebraska sunsets. I may be slightly biased, but Nebraska has some of the best sunsets I have ever seen! :-) God's glory is so evident in His beautiful paintings!

The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
 Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
 They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
  Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.
Psalms 19:1-4

For since the creation of the world
 His invisible attributes, His eternal power
 and divine nature, have been clearly seen,
being understood through what has been made,
so that they are without excuse.

Waxing the Combine

On Friday and Saturday I had a wonderful time helping Mitchell wax his combine. (For those of my readers who don't know who Mitchell is, he and I have been dating since last November.) I had been looking forward to this job for quite a while! Now I'm glad for my experience in helping Dad wax our vehicles! We did not wax it by hand...we had two buffers. :-)

 After putting the wax on with the buffers, we would wait for it to dry and then wipe off the extra wax, leaving it bright and shiny! That was definitely the best part. The combine looked so good after we were finished, and it will be much easier to clean the dust from harvest off of this shiny new coating!

Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working
for the Lord and not for people.
Ephesians 6:7

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord
and not for men.
Colossians 3:23

Pictures

I have had a lot of fun editing photos recently, and thought I would like to share some of them with you.

Trees and Books

Apparently I am not the only one in my family who likes to climb a tree with a good book in hand!
